The band Overzealous IS a group of zealots. The three-piece of Dustin Sellers, Brad Crittendon and Tim Adler sound fanatical about 90’s alternative rock. In the tradition of Weezer’s doo-wop, Ben Folds’ piano, Filter’s anger and Matthew Sweet’s tenderness, they have created songs fit for a time warp.

I was seated at a table, drinking a cold beverage, when CD packaging flew at my face. Luckily, my reflexes quickly responded and I avoided a puncture wound to the cheek ... I have to admit this was the oddest way for me to meet Patrick Collum and The Law, but I’m glad I did.

7 bands for $7. This Satuday, Aug. 4th, that’s what you’ll get at 3rd & Lindsley. Seven local acts have joined forces to benefit Patrick Webber in his pursuit to buy a new leg, which pretty much costs an arm.

Having set up house in Murfreesboro a week ago, I finally felt the desire to venture out and catch a few bands. I chose the Parachute Musical, The Never and The States show at Casa Burrito in Murfreesboro last Saturday.

The tales Stealing Seasons chooses to tell are about feeling lost, finding freedom and succumbing to remorseful dormancy. Their EP is filled with intense yet tame and somber yet rousing tracks. The Murfreesboro band is lead by Shonna Longie...

The ‘90s are coming back!” That’s what a friend of mine said upon first hearing about Hootie & the Blowfish’s concert last Monday. For the past two years, we’ve watched the return of artists like Green Day, Pearl Jam, Fiona Apple, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Toadies and Goo Goo Dolls — musicians that defined our youth.

"And this is one time to be trigger happy..." I’ve been scared of writing about The Trigger Code for nearly two weeks because generally when you find something you love, you want to keep it safe and protected; and because they allow me to believe in restless spirits and wanton souls.

I'm posting an older review of Butch Walker and the Let's Go Out Tonites to hype all of us for his show next Wednesday at Exit/In. I saw him last July at City Hall. He sang from my lap.
