THE THROWS is not a medical condition; it has nothing to do with gameday highlights. In fact, The Throws, the name of a rock and roll band out of Nashville, TN, barely even makes sense.

"I think each of has some sort of love affair with rock and roll," states guitarist John Potts. "We just write what comes out, and so far, that's what it has been." While drawing from influences ranging from Led Zepplin to Foo Fighters, The Throws realize they are the grandchild of their genre. "We don't think we are the first to do this," states bassist Brad Weir. "We recognize the artists are out there doing it, and who came before us and set the standard for excellent rock and roll. We just want to be a part of it, and grab a hold of the reigns so one day we might have the opportunity to pass them down to someone else."

With goals set this high, the rehearsing and writing process must be extremely rigid. Or maybe not, according to lead singer Wes Walters. "We want to be excellent at our craft, so we do take our music seriously. But at rehearsal we try to keep it light. That's the best atmosphere for being creative. Sometimes we'll even take breaks to watch a few minutes of college sports, just to remind ourselves that we're not only there to make music, but to have a good time also."

Keeping it light is how the band derived it's name. "We wanted something fun yet bold, so people would understand what we are like" drummer John Cade says. "The Throws - actually, we don't even really know where it came from. It just stood out to us."

Though the band places much focus on having a good time, Walters' earnest lyrics are the center of what The Throws are all about. "For us, having fun is exremely important. But as a band, we agree that we want to say something worth while to those who are willing to listen. Hopefully, people can relate to my personal experiences, and use them to take a look at their own life. Whether they be inspired, or call me a liar, atleast they have taken the time to notice what we are saying."

The Throws, who are relatively young in a blossoming Nashville music scene, know the hard work that lies ahead. Regardless of what else happens in the future, they will simply keep making music - because to The Throws, that's all that does make sense.
