r 2001, Drummer Charlie Phan and Guitarist Tim Gleaves came together by a chance email. Bassist John Goodrich soon joined in and the writing process began. Damond Jiniya, formerly of Savatage, filled in as lead vocalist for three headlining shows including the final night of a popular rock club. After auditioning 75  vocalists, they booked a show to do a live vocalist audition in April 2004. Shadows Of Light performed with several vocalist but still did not find the right one. During the show, 4Fourty bassist Craig Alspaugh joined them on stage, which was a preview of what was soon to come.

A ray of light appeared in September of 2004 when long time friend Michael Ashley of Medicine Mann stepped in as lead vocalist. Within a week Michael had lyrics for all of their songs. Michael's lyrics bonded with the music and formed something powerful.

In December of 2004, they began the long process of recording the first album "Let There Be Light”, which was written, recorded, and produced entirely by Shadows Of Light. The band spent months tracking the album and soon began mixing and post-production.

In March of 2005, John Goodrich stepped down and Craig Alspaugh became the new bassist for Shadows Of Light and brought with him a new level of style and influence.

The band has developed a heavy, powerful, and melodic sound that can fit into radio format.

The band unveiled the completed lineup March 24th, 2005 live on MTTV. The band continued recording their debut cd in April and took time out for a performance at BB Kings in Nashville. In May the band was finishing up their tracks with engineer Brandon Henegar and taking a few road trips with performances in Clarksville and Chattanooga as well as Nashville. The band also played locally in June and put the finishing touches on their debut release.

July 2005 was a hot month for Shadows Of Light. The band spent endless hours preparing for the launch of their debut release “Let There Be Light”. As the pressing came down to the wire, Shadows Of Light was interviewed by 102.9 The Buzz in Nashville on July 17th, and “Let There Be Light” hit the airwaves. On July 23rd, Shadows Of Light unleashed their debut to the public with their cd release show at the legendary Exit In. At a standing room only show, members of Tantric and all of Nashville’s top rock and metal bands came to listen. Shadows Of Light spent August and September promoting the release and also playing local shows. In October Shadows Of Light began their “Let There Be Light” tour with dates in Tampa, Orlando, Melbourne, Tallahassee, Huntsville, AL., Pikeville, TN, and Nashville.

The band finished up the 2005 tour in November with shows in Memphis and Birmingham Alabama. Shadows Of Light will now be taking a little time off the road to write some brand new music for an upcoming 2006 release. Shadows Of Light will begin their 2006 tour in February.
