Micah Redding Hard-hitting solo acoustic rocker, hosts local rock writer's showcases, and puts on shows

Micah Redding is an independent artist, philosopher, and entrepreneur. Musically, he is a prolific songwriter whose songs span genres, but seem to mostly settle around the area of alternative rock. He has been influenced by many things, including Scottish/Irish folk, all-vocal, alternative rock, modern country, and some individual artists whose work refuses to be classified. Particularly high on his list of influences are Matchbox 20, Five For Fighting, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Micah Green, Big Sky, Otis Redding, and Tim McGraw.

Micah is also a prolific photographer, and some of his earliest work is featured on this website. Micah believes in the ability of a photograph to capture feelings, sensations, ideas, and even entire worldviews. As a result, most of his photography is centered around people.

Micah is strongly interested not just in creating art, but in delivering it. As a member of the REDDING band, he has worked hard to make his work accessible to the public in as many forms as possible, whether it is by CD, a cellphone ringtone, in live performances, on television, radio, or magazine.

Micah leads an adventurous life, having lived in in states all the way from Washington to Alabama. At various times, he has run his own radio show, published his own magazine, appeared on television, gone rock-climbing, tried building-climbing, driven himself from Seattle to Memphis in 3.5 days in a car that wouldn't go over 35 on a hill, put together an all-vocal band 2 days before a performance, hiked through an impenetrable briar patch, bought a car for $200 and drove it from Oklahoma to Seattle, detained a criminal until the police could arrive, had an assailant rob him and threaten him with murder, discovered a hidden government agency by crawling through the ceiling into a locked room, mowed the lawn of an indian princess, worked with a witch, met Norman Schwartzkopf, been the subject of thesis studies, climbed Sourdough mountain, hung over a cliff, got lost in the fog on top of Mt. Saint Helens, took control of a bus full of children when the driver passed out, drove a 12-passenger van home when the brakes went out while going down a large hill, survived a bike wreck in the middle of nowhere that made him black out and cost him two teeth and 19 stitches on his face, almost got washed off a cliff into the ocean when he was 3, and collected innumerable bits of wisdom along the way.
