Liquid Village is like a fantasy adventure story: unusual landscapes explored by curious characters whose tale touches on universal themes. Each song offers engaging interactions between the four instruments and harmonized vocal arrangements. There are shades of classic rock, pop, country, jazz, latin music, and psychedelia, fused with new and inventive ideas, making music that is rarely predictable.

Rippling through Liquid Village are a variety of influences, like Yes, where seemingly incompatible parts, (including up to four voices), are woven together to create wonderful and unexpected textures. You can also hear an experimental Led Zeppelin edge, like "The Song Remains the Same" or "Fool in the Rain." Rhythms, strange and intriguing, hint at a variety of cultural and ethnic influences. Listeners are reminded of Dave Matthews and Phish as well and enjoy the combination of orchestrated parts and improvised solos. Funk, jazz, and southern rock have also found a home in Liquid Village. Even with all of the varied ideas, a familiar pop aesthetic runs through everything, which is why you will walk away humming a tune.

The Nashville based group was formed in 2001, but the cloth was on the loom many years earlier. In 1990, Gary Godbey (bass) and Alan Powell (guitar) began playing together in Nashville. At the same time, Carlos Ruiz (drums) and Matt Jacobs (guitar) were playing together at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Alan and Matt even played together for a short time in 1992. It took eleven years to bring it all into focus, but they agree the band was worth the wait for a chemistry that works so well.

Liquid Village is the kind of band that can provide a well balanced musical experience. With their unique grooves and juxtaposition of styles, you can not help finding something to like about these guys. With the release of their debut CD “All At Once”, Liquid Village is prepared to flood the world with their truly distinctive sound.
