JAUX KING

After a long absence, Nashville rock veteran Jaux King is back on the scene with a new set of songs that represent a newly re-discovered vision. The former frontman for local rock staples such as Mack the Knife and the_everafters, and the instrumental half of duo [AGENT], has found a new focus and resolve as a solo artist.

Drawing from influences both new and old, Jaux (pronounced-‘Joe’)

Is constantly continuing to sharpen rough ideas into well thought out songs. In an effort to find common ground between a love for the obscure (Failure, Helmet, Enemy, On), and an appreciation for pop sensibility (Chevelle, Deftones, Queens of the Stone Age), no inspirational stone is left unturned.

Jaux managed to break into the burgeoning Nashville rock scene with Mack the Knife, a band that including members of the Beauty School Dropouts and Ligion, among others. It was here that he cut his teeth on the basics, learning the best ways to employ his plethora of creative ideas and concepts. “I learned a lot in that band” King says œwe had such a great time just doing our thing together. We taught each other how to really create and tap into the part of your brain that tells you what to write and what to play. Finding that place is a real adventure. Mack the Knife made a name for itself, over the better part of threeᾠyears, that continues to res`nate today- œI still every now and then have people come up to chat about MTK. It™s really funny because we didn™t realize people were listening, but apparently, they were. When it was all said and done, we found that some bands we looked up to really dug us, which was very cool.

After Mack the Knife, the proverbial ‘upping of the ante’ took place in the form of the_everafters. Jaux laid down his guitars in order to fully focus on being the vocalist of the group. During the time between the summer of 2005 and the fall of 2006, the_everafters dove head first into a Nashville that was more on fire than ever. King remembers those days well: œwe Ῠad a great followi΅g and we were really enjoying ourselves for the most part. with a laugh, he remembers: œOne of my favorite memories from those days was a show we played in Memphis. We were about two hours late to the venue, but finally made it and played a really great set. At the end of the set, I went over to the stage doorᾠthat was in plain ῶiew of the crowd. When I tried to push open the door to go backstage, it was stuck. I proceeded to pound the shit out this door like it owed me money, and the crowd began cheering. At that point, I realized they weren™t cheering; they were saying œpull. Wouldn™t you know it- I pulle

In October of 2006, Jaux decided to take a short hiatus which ended with his co-creating the duo [AGENT] with longtime friend and Local songstress Logan Hamner. Though mostly a studio project, it proved to be just the motivation that was needed to get Jaux’s wheels turning again. “I had been cataloging ideas for quite a while. It was mostly stuff that was ˜cool, but not right for this project or that project™. Finally, I just decided to see what I had and it turned out that there was something to all those ideas on the shelf.

Since this epiphany, the stylistic intricacies and unique dynamics that define Jaux’s new vision continue to grow and evolve at a break neck pace; and in so doing, the faint outlines that will soon become the unmistakable swatch of Jaux King already begin to emerge. From the anthemic shifts and flows of “the Fire You Can’t Put Out, to the cold, rhythmic, stabs of œHit So Low all the bases of content are covereῤ- Love, Loss, Politics, and the abstract thoughtfulness for which Jaux King has come to be known. Blacks, whites, ups, downs, warts and all- it™s all there for the taking¦
