Dying Man was started in the spring of 2005 by founding member Barry French. After taking a musical hiatus for a couple of years, Barry was drawn back to his passion for music soon after the passing of his grandfather. That event, coupled with the encouragement of some of his close friends, sparked the musical fire inside of him once again.

Within a few weeks, the next piece of the puzzle was added when Shannon LeBerte joined up on guitar. A couple of months later Barry had added a vocalist and drummer. As the months progressed, there was still something missing for Barry. That something was his desire to return to his roots of being a drummer.

After making that switch, the band would still go through one more change when the original vocalist stepped down and he was replaced by Ryan Mahrke. In addition to taking on the vocal duties, Ryan also became the band's bass player. The line up was now complete.

Dying Man, musically speaking, is a mixture of styles and sounds, ranging from heavy to heartfelt, from brutal to beautiful. It's an attempt to appeal to everyone, while not worrying about appealing to anyone.

Dying Man, philosophically speaking, is a journey through the depths of human emotions. It's the peeling away of pride. It's the ability to look at the darkness that resides within us all, see it for what it is, and realize that it can not be conquered without the help of a higher power, a greater force.
